Elmer Otis Simmons

Elmer Otis Simmons, 94, died Friday, July 22, 2022. He was a son of the late Moncie Edward Simmons and Clara Hanson Stump Simmons. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by the love of his life of 59 years, Evelyn Geraldine Watts Simmons; four brothers and one sister.

Surviving are his children, Nathan Simmons (Rhonda), Gary Simmons (Roma), Duane Simmons (Rebecca) and Kathy Simmons; grandchildren, Nathan Tyler Simmons (Jonathan Fajardo), Kelly H. Anderson (Matthew), Tasha Simmons, Gary Simmons, Jr., Jan Carlisle, Robert Carlisle and Marty Carlisle (Kris); numerous great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Lotz Funeral Home, 1001 Franklin Road, Roanoke. A celebration of Elmer’s life will be held 1 pm, Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at First Baptist Church, 321 Marshall Ave, SW, Roanoke with Pastor Joe Greene and Reverend Wayne Gadman officiating. Burial will follow at Franklin Memorial Park.
