Minister Jamie Everette Galloway

March 6, 1980 - August 16, 2022

Jamie Everette Galloway, 42, of Eden, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Moses Cone Hospital after a brief illness. He was born March 6, 1980 in Eden to the late Erma Scales Galloway and the late Charles Broadnax. He was a proud associate minister of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church where he also served as a youth minister and minister of music for several years. Jamie loved music and offered his musical talents to the MLK commemorative choir for several years and started the Eden Youth Unity Choir as an outlet for young people at Holmes Middle and Morehead High Schools. He was passionate about music and helping young people as well as winning souls for Christ. He was a proud Morehead High graduate of the class of 1998 and graduate of NC A&T University. He faithfully served the federal government for 14 years as an employee of Social Security administration until his health declined in 2016. He was also a devoted student of the Word of God. He had earned an Associate Degree in Biblical Studies from Vintage Bible College in Winston-Salem and at the time of his death was working on his bachelor’s degree in Theology.
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Dionne Galloway; daughter, Jade Imani; maternal sisters Lisa Jumper (Derek) and Whitley Beveridge (Anthony); maternal brother Sam Galloway (Tiana); paternal sisters Cathy Broadnax, Marilyn Saldana, and Jacqueline Siddle; paternal brothers Kane Blackwell and Clifford Moyer. He is also survived by his maternal aunts: Joan Moton, Yvonne Wilson, Mary Millner and Gwen Lanza (Gustavo) as well as maternal uncle Sherman Scales (Emma). He will also be missed by his in-laws Daniel and Diane Piggott; brothers-in-law Daniel Piggott, Jr, Darryl Piggott and Daniel Pierce (Sondra). He also leaves to cherish his memory his nieces: Aubrey Beveridge and Ari Piggott as well as nephews Ethan Galloway and Daniel Piggott, III. He has a host of cousins, extended family and friends that will forever cherish his memory.
A floating visitation will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 1:00-5:00 pm at Rising Start Missionary Baptist Church. The wake will begin at 6:00 pm. The funeral will be Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Duane R. Best Auditorium at John Motley Morehead High School of Eden with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Dr. Johnny Taylor will be with eulogist and Pastor Je’Sie Morris will be officiating. Private burial to be attended by family only will follow at the Hamlin Cemetery, Eden, North Carolina.
