Stanford Layne Wright

Stanford Layne Wright, 72, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Salem Veterans Hospital. He was born September 18, 1949 in Roanoke, Virginia to the late Hanford Wright and Dorothy Inez Wright.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Hanford Wayne Wright.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Wright of 43 years; three children, Cindy Barbour (Joey); Denny Sperry and Chris Sperry; eight grandchildren, Jake Tusing (Emily), Brianna Sperry, Denver Sperry, Patrick Sperry, Ciara Sperry, Demy O’Malley, Cheyenne Barbour and Brooke Barbour; and three great-grandchildren.

Layne retired from Miller Brewery after working there for thirty years. Some of his favorite hobbies included driving his tractor, landscaping, hunting, watching old westerns, spending time with his family and making jokes anytime he had the chance.

He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and proudly served his country.

A funeral will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at 12 Noon at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private.
