Wayne Lowry Anderson, 87, of Appomattox passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Martha Elizabeth Wright Anderson for 23 years.

Born on May 11, 1936, in Crewe, VA, he was the son of the late William G. Anderson and Bertha Mae Umpstead Anderson. Wayne worked for Pierce P. Johnson stacking railroad ties by hand, Jack Wingo raising chickens for Tyson, and Wesley Dunkum raising pigs.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews including a special niece, Gail Pierson.

He was preceded in death by five siblings, Eleanor Gough, Perry Anderson, George Anderson, Eric Anderson, and Anna Whirley; a nephew, James Whirley, Jr.; and a niece, Betty Whirley.

A funeral service will be held 11 am, Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Glory Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Crewe Cemetery, Crewe, VA.
