Castell Phelps Garrett of Spout Spring, Virginia

Castell Phelps Garrett, 93, of Spout Spring passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Alex R. Garrett.

Born on August 12, 1930, in Bedford, she was the daughter of the late John David Phelps and Dorothy Mason Phelps. She was a member of Spout Spring Baptist Church.

She is survived by five children, William Garrett and wife, Patsy, Robert Garrett and wife, Evelyn, Alvin Garrett and wife, Carolyn, Debra G. Scruggs and husband, Dwayne, and Joyce Garrett; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters Effie P. Moses and Mary P. Wright, and four brothers, Roy, Charlie, John, and Calvin Phelps.

A funeral service will be held 11 am, Monday, January 8, 2023, at Robinson Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Davis officiating. A private burial will follow in Spout Spring Baptist Church Cemetery.
