Kenneth Wayne Richardson

October 3, 1945 - February 29, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Wayne Richardson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, on February 29, 2024, at the age of 78. He was surrounded by his loving family when he went into the arms of Jesus.
Kenneth was born on October 3, 1945, to the late Walter and Lucy Beale Richardson. He grew up in a large and close-knit family, with seven siblings and many cousins. He attended Appomattox County High School, where he met the love of his life, Gloria Ranson. They married in 1965 and had three children, Kenny, Danny, and Matt.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Virginia Richardson, Louise Wood, and Margaret Garrison; a brother, Dick Richardson; and his beloved granddaughter Cassidy.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gloria, his children, Kenny (Kim) Richardson, Danny (Adele) Richardson, and Matt (Jamie) Richardson; his grandchildren, Cole, Camden, Bailey, Noah, Virginia Beale, and Caleb; his siblings, Walter (Mildred) Richardson, Randolph (Beth) Richardson, and Sandra Burge; and his “brother” Ronnie (Cindy) Ranson as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Kenneth was a selfless Christian servant, who dedicated his life to helping others. He worked for UPS for 30 years, delivering packages with a smile and a friendly word. He also drove a school bus for Appomattox County Public Schools for 25 years, transporting generations of students safely and cheerfully. He was a faithful member of Piney Ridge Methodist Church. He was always ready to lend a hand, a listening ear, or a word of encouragement to anyone in need.
Kenneth enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his seven grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He loved gardening and watching sports. He was a loyal fan of the Virginia Cavaliers, White Sox, Lakers, Colts, and Hampden Sydney Tigers. He had a great sense of humor and a warm personality that touched so many lives.
Kenneth will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a wonderful man who left a lasting legacy of kindness, generosity, and faithfulness. He is now resting in peace with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
