Michael Grant Preston

In the cool of the morning, our Heavenly Father saw fit to call from labor to reward our beloved brother, Michael Grant Preston. He was born June 27, 1952 in Henry County, Virginia to Claudia Mae Hairston Preston and the late Ernest Preston. Michael was a graduate of GW Carver Class of 1970. He was self-employed as a contractor for over 20 years. He was a member of Greater Love Ministries.
Michael was known for his quick wit and good sense of humor. He could crack a joke like no other. Many will remember Mike for his ability to lighten a mood with his infectious laugh and outgoing personality.
Michael is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Carolyn Helms Preston; his mother, Claudia Mae Preston; children, Jermi Hairston (Arlethia), Torrey Hairston, and Dennis Morris (Erica), Malcolm Perkins, Tanesha Parker, Tony Parker; sisters, Eva Marlene Redd, Samona Simmons, and Sidney Lewis (Jay); brothers, McDaniel Preston (Mary), Thurman Preston, Wilbert Preston (Florence), Ozzie Preston, Kevin Preston, Avery Preston (Pam), and Steve Preston (Mary Ann); five grandchildren; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Michael is preceded in death by his sisters, Bernice Preston, Claudia Tina Moyer, and Wanda Preston Penn; grandson, Shareef Hairston.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Greater International Pentecostal Holiness Assembly Building. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Fair Haven Memorial Park.
