L. M. Thomas

Lawton Murrel “L.M.” Thomas, Jr. 68, of Appomattox passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at his residence.
Born on July 12, 1955, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Lawton Murrel Thomas, Sr. and Alice Almond Thomas. He retired as a supervisor from Thomasville Furniture after 34 years. He considered his Thomasville Furniture co-workers his family. L.M. enjoyed hunting, fishing, music, and cooking. He was a member of the RR Hunt Club.
He is survived by two children, William Lawton Thomas and wife, Jodi, and Jane T. Allen and husband, Scottie; three grandsons, William Daniel Thomas, Jakob Owen Thomas, and Silas Lawton Allen; two sisters, Ava Sue T. Ranson, and Eve T. Wood; uncle, William Floyd “Butch” Thomas; numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Chris “Hawk” Mitchell; and a host of friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin infant sisters, Karen Faye, and Allison Raye Thomas; and a brother-in-law, John Ranson.
A graveside service will be held 2 pm, Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Old Herman Cemetery with Pastor Anthony Reeves and Pastor Jonathan Watson officiating.
L.M. has completed his last neighborhood watch on his daily loop ride in old blue.
