Reva Fox
Reva Carol Elam Fox, 82, of Appomattox, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the loving wife of Charles Robert Fox for 67 years.
Born in Logan, West Virginia, October 11, 1941, Reva was a true “Coal Miners” daughter of the late Hazel Huffman Elam and Earl Thompson Elam.
Reva graduated from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, with a B.A. degree in Elementary Education and taught second grade in Logan County. In 1990, she and her husband moved to Appomattox, Virginia, where she was employed as a Dental Assistant for the Appomattox County Health Department. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Order of the Eastern Star. Some fondest memories were playing the piano for her mother’s church quartet on the radio, playing for her church and traveling with her family to many countries in Europe. Her love for people was evident in the many scarves and afghans she crocheted to give her friends and strangers. Reva loved all animals and always had them in her life, even feeding and caring for the ones in the wild. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Lynchburg, Virgina.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Fox Joyner and husband, Wayne of Lewisville, North Carolina; two granddaughters, Sarah and Carissa; great-granddaughter, Trista; one sister, Lois Shrewsbury of St. Albans, West Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Darrell Elam; and brother-in-law, Graham Shrewsbury.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, July 19, 2024, at St. John’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Chris Roussell officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Robinson Funeral Home.
