Emmogene Tabor Trent

Emmogene Tabor Trent, 89, of Gladys passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Garland Edward “Ed” Trent, Sr. for 63 years.
Born on April 23, 1935, in Burkes Garden, Va. She was the daughter of the late Amos Wayne Tabor and Edythe Tibbs Tabor.
Emmogene was a country girl at heart who lived her entire life among the farmland and hills of Virginia. Daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was loved for her warmth, sense of humor, and even her occasional stubbornness. Her greatest joys in life were being amongst her loved ones, singing in the church choir, and pursuing creative outlets like cooking, writing in her journal and composing poems. She left this world in peace, and although she has gone to glory after a long full life, she will be deeply missed by those she left behind.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Trent Dagenhart (Mike) of Gladys; two grandchildren, Jamie Milnor Brown (Lucas) and Jake Milnor (Bruno); three great-grandchildren, Grayson, Cadie, and Hunter Brown; three sisters, Lois Tabor Merkey and her husband Gerald, and Frances Tabor Doss, all of Lynchburg, and Doris Tabor Clark and her husband Robert of Gladys; also her brother-in-law, Leon Reynolds; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Garland Edward Trent, Jr.; four sisters, Janie Tabor Reynolds, Louise Tabor McKinney Saunders, Annalee Tabor Schiek, and Sallie Tabor Fariss; two brothers, J.D. Tabor and Robert W. “Bobby” Tabor.
A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at New Bethel Church with Rev. Roger Powell and Rev. Albert Read officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5- 7 pm, Monday, August 19, 2024, at New Bethel Church.
