Richard Edward Ayers

Richard Edward Ayers, 85, of Gladstone, VA, died Thursday, August 22, 2024. He was the husband of the late Betty McGhee Ayers.
Born in Botetourt County, VA, on February 18, 1939, he was a son of the late Annie Booth and James Edward Ayers. He had a great passion for fishing and was a retired autobody repairman.
He is survived by a daughter, Leila Paulette and friend, Eddie Wieringo of Appomattox and her sons, Jay Paulette, and Eric Paulette and wife, Lindsay and their son, Seeley Paulette; a son, Todd Edward Ayers and wife, Renee of Chesapeake and their children, Morgan O’Brien and husband, Josh and their daughter, Reagan O’Brien, Nick Ayers, and Rachel Ayers; a brother, Johnny Ayers; and a sister, Lorraine Walker.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Eulla Johnson and Phyllis Jean Ayers and brothers, Clifton T. Ayers, Hubert Ayers, James Lee Ayers, and Robert Ayers.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Robinson Funeral Home by Pastor Joseph Brewer. Burial will follow in Liberty Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 pm until the time of service.
