Kirby Blaine "Pete" Martin

Kirby Blaine “Pete” Martin, 76, of Appomattox, VA, passed away peacefully after a hard-fought battle with Cancer on Saturday, December 21, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was loved and respected as a father, husband, papa, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Born September 15, 1948, in Danville, VA, he was the son of the late William Taylor Martin and Elaine Marshall Martin.
Pete was a water well driller by trade and worked all over the state of Virginia servicing and touching the lives of so many people. He worked for Fred Jones Well Company for over 30 years and then owned his own business.
He is survived by his wife, Carroll Wood Martin; his sons, Kenneth Martin and wife, Shannon of Concord, and Jeff Martin and wife, Jamie of Appomattox; grandchildren, Kurt Martin and wife, Taylor, Katy Blaine Martin, Madison Martin and Carter Martin; great-grandchild, Layney Gray Martin; brothers, Frankie Martin and wife, JoAnn, Mark Martin and wife, Jackie of Rustburg, and Jody Martin of Appomattox; sisters, Jeanita Gilpin of Amherst, Karen Gaines and husband, Charles of AR, and Susie Hensley and husband, Randy of Huddleston, VA; and sister-in-law, Norma Jean Martin of SC.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William “Billy” Martin.
A funeral service will be held 11 am, Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Leland Bonds officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
