Mary Katharine Brown Nickell
Mary Katharine Brown Nickell, 93, of Spout Spring passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Reverend Ronald J. Nickell, Sr.
Born on August 31, 1931, in Jessamine County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late James H. Brown, Sr. and Jennie Agee Brown. She was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church.
She is survived by her three sons, Gregory Nickell and wife Donna of Forest, Ronald Nickell, Jr. and wife Patty of Concord, and Gary Nickell and wife Karen of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren, Christina Sandridge (James), Valerie Pham (Marc), Julie Knowles (Chris), Kimberly Nickell, Tabitha Reagan (Chris), Eric Nickell (Mandi), and Tiffany Nickell (Jason); 14 great-grandchildren, Tyler Sandridge, Nickolas Sandridge, Brady Pham, Ethan Pham, Olivia Pham, Landon Owen, Rylee Nickell, Eli Nickell, Kai Reagan, Charlie Reagan, Chloe Chisholm, Lucas Chisholm, Pearl Chisholm, and Alyssa Staton; brother, Teddy Brown of Middletown, Ohio; sister, Imogene B. Kidd of Carlisle, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Laverne Ledford, James Brown, Jr., Ferris Brown, Earnest Earl Brown, Dorothy “Dodie” Woodward, Raymond Brown, and Phyllis Brown.
A visitation for local friends will be on Friday, June 6th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home, 667 Court Street, Appomattox. The memorial service will be held at Mt. Ed Baptist Church, 1606 Craigs Store Road, Batesville, Virginia on June 7th, at 11:00 am with visitation at 10:00 am. Burial will be at the church cemetery with lunch to follow in the fellowship hall.
Presiding over the service will be Pastor Ron Nickell, Jr., Pastor Robert Wilson, and Pastor Todd Estes.
