Allen Thomas Witt

Allen Thomas Witt, 87 of Bedford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2020. He was born on Saturday, February 4, 1933, a son of the late Allen Morton Witt and Clare Howerton Witt. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harry B. Witt & James B. Witt, Sr. and a son-in-law, Thomas Allen Schlapman.

He is survived by is wife and love of his life for 64 years, Jean B. Witt; a brother, Wayne Witt & wife, Brenda and sister, Rosa Griffin; three children: sons Mark M. Witt & wife, Jackie and Michael A. Witt & friend, Kelli; daughter Linda Schlapman-Venhorst & husband, Kevin and daughter-in-law, Kristie H. Witt. Four grandchildren, Marcy Witt, Kyndall Witt, Conner Witt and Rachel Schlapman; 2 step grandchildren, Charlie & Abby Venhorst and many nephews & nieces.

Thomas worked at GE in Salem for 33 years and served in the U. S. Army. He also had a passion for working the family farm.

A funeral service with Military Rites will be held at Updike Funeral Home Chapel, Bedford on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. A graveside service will follow at Quaker Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
