Nancy Taylor Chambers Jones
Nancy Taylor Chambers Jones, 92, of Red House, Virginia, died peacefully at her home on Monday, April 22, 2019, surrounded by loving family and caregivers.
She was born October 14, 1926, a daughter of the late Jasper and Lula Mae Taylor.
Nancy was first married to Thomas Harold Chambers, Jr., deceased, and later blessed to marry the late H. Wayne Jones, with whom she shared 42 years of happiness.
After graduating Volens High School in 1944, Nancy entered and graduated from State Teachers College, now Longwood University, which provided a valued education and teaching career that spanned more than 30 years.
In addition to gardening and work with the Hospice and Literacy Programs, she enjoyed her church work, family and community.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Hubert Taylor, Casey Taylor, Keith Taylor, Kenneth Taylor, and Jasper Taylor, a sister, Therese Armstrong and a granddaughter, Genna Wiley.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Nan Andrews and husband, Dexter, her daughter, Julia Austin and husband, Billy, her son, Hal Chambers and wife, Melanie, her treasured grandchildren and great grandchildren, one brother, Bobby Taylor and wife, Mary Frances and a valued circle of extended family.
The family will receive friends and neighbors at her home and a visitation will be at 1 pm on Friday, April 26, 2019, at Providence Baptist Church in Red House, Virginia, with a celebration of life following on the same day at 2 pm.
