Virginia "Faye" Haynes Cephus

Virginia “Faye” Hayes Cephus, 72, of Spencer, Virginia passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at her home. She was born March 7, 1948 in Eden, North Carolina to the late Doc and Dura Serarcy Hayes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, L. Durand Stokes; sisters, Delores Purcell and Minnie Hairston; and brothers, Cosmo Hayes, DeEdward Hayes and Wilbert Hayes.

She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church where she was on the Usher Board. She was an avid shopper and loved the beach, cruises, and spending time with her family. She retired from Tultex in 2000, and then became a caregiver.

Faye is survived by her son, Lenwood Demonde Stokes (Darlene); niece/daughters, Debra and Donna Purcell; grandchildren, Jordan Penn, Bryson Stokes, Alison Stokes, and Olivia Stokes; great-grandchild, Ali Williams; special friends, Laverne Ramey and Doretha Fontaine; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The graveside service will be Monday, September 14, 2020, at 11:00 A. M., at Carver Memorial Gardens. A floating visitation will be Sunday, September 13, 2020, from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Service Chapel.
