Stanley "Stan" Ingles Morefield

March 31, 1939 - May 17, 2019

Stanley Ingles Morefield “Stan” was born 31 March 1939 to Stanley Davis and Ollie Ingles Morefield. He was
also “Bubby” to little sister, Anne Sherry Morefield Burleigh. After graduation from Pulaski High School, Stan
joined the United States Navy and proudly served as an Aviation Structural Mechanic in Keflivic, Iceland and
Pensacola, FL. Upon being honorably discharged he went to work in Washington, DC. He received a BS Degree
in Parks and Recreation and worked for Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority as Park Ranger/Manager at
Bull Runn in Manassas and Clifton, VA. He worked locally at Pulaski Furniture and Long Airdox and was
owner of “Store Down the Road” in Hiwassee.

Stan and his long-time companion, his dog, Wendy, were both fatally injured in a vehicle accident on Route 8 in
Floyd County on May 17th. Stan loved nature. He was happiest with his son deep-sea fishing, camping at
North River with friends of 45 years, canoeing and planting his garden at his home along the Blue Ridge
Parkway in Floyd County. He enjoyed sharing his “knowledge of nature” with others and was a Cub and Boy
Scout Master in Fairfax and Hiwassee for several years.

Stan met, married Shirley Cain and together they were blessed with one son, Jeffrey Lee Morefield whom
he nick-named “Doobie” as a child. Preceding him in death are his father Stanley Davis and
mother Ollie Ingles Morefield.
