David Shelburn Penn, Jr.

June 8, 1965 - November 10, 2020

David Shelburn Penn, Jr., 55, of Spencer, Virginia departed this life on November 10, 2020, at SOVAH Health of Martinsville and Henry County. He was born June 8, 1965 in Martinsville, Virginia to the late David Shelburn Penn, Sr., and Junious Yvonger Penn.

In addition to his father, David was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Walter and Estelle Penn; his maternal grandparents, Junious and Pattie Thomas; and a great nephew Amir Pritchett.

David attended Drewry Mason High School. He was employed by Hanes Brand of Woolwine, Virginia until he became disabled. He attended True Gospel Holiness Church. David loved fishing, his cats and the Washington Redskins Football Team.

Those he leaves to cherish his memory are his mother, Junious Yvonger Penn of the home; one son, David Ajuan Hylton, of Stuart, Virginia; four sisters, Patricia Carter (Len), Mary Dandridge (Pete), both of Martinsville, Virginia, Sylvia Nibblett (Larry) of Bassett Virginia and Rhonda Penn of the home; one brother, Michael Penn (Cindy) of Stuart, Virginia, a cousin who was raised like a brother, Michael Thomas of the home; five grandchildren, Abram Emanuel Malikae Hylton, David Alexander Hylton, Jazimine Vanessa Hylton, Swayze Natalya Hylton, Penelope Louis Hylton; three nieces, Catrease Penn, Da’Kayla Penn and Shawntae Scott (Aaron); three nephews, Steven Penn, LaMarcus Penn, and Peyton Nibblett; two great nephews, Nathaniel Penn and Cainan Penn; a very special uncle, Vincent Penn; caretaker, Pam Robertson; and a host of uncles, aunts, family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at 11:00 A. M., at Fair Haven Memorial Park, Spencer, Virginia.

God knew you were weary, He did what He knew best, He came and stood beside you and whispered “come and rest”. You bade no one a farewell not even a good-bye, you were gone before we knew it and only God knows why. The family.
