Dorothy Elizabeth McFall Padgett
Dorothy Elizabeth McFall Padgett, 83, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, December 5th 2020 at Oakwood Health and Rehab at Centra Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 22, 1937, a daughter of the late Charles Edward McFall, Jr. and Ella Bly Yopp McFall. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Jeannine B. Bolling of Roanoke and her husband, Fred H. Padgett. Dotty was proud of her career as a nurse, first as an LPN floor and O.R. surgical nurse. She also cared for the acutely disabled children and adults at the former Lynchburg Training School. She then attained her R.N. at the College of Health Sciences while working as a C.C.U. nurse at Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was also a member of Bedford Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She is survived by her three children, her son, Perry M. West and husband Kyle Petrie, daughter, Deanna Overstreet and husband David, son, Sean West and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Jessica Overstreet, Clinton Overstreet, Lauren West, Brendan West, Madison West; loving cousins, and extended family and friends. The family would like to give a special thank you to the many nurses, CNA’s, Hospice and Social workers, etc. for their undeniable patience, care, and compassion during mom’s final years. We would like to thank Kristin, Lisa, Rosa, Stephanie, Allison, Carolyn, Jean, Cheryl, Hope, Mary, Esha, and Nikki and many Facebook friends and others. No services will be conducted at this time. A memorial service of her life will be held at a later date.
