Nan M. Rae Fooks

Nan Rae M. Fooks, 77, of Roanoke entered into God's grace on Wednesday, May 23, 2019.
Mrs. Fooks was a teacher-librarian in the Roanoke County Public School System for 36 years.  She served as Senior Warden of St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, promoted its educational programs and sang in its choir.  She expressed life's gift in writing poetry and taking photographs as well as shaping clay on the potter's wheel.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Curtis Edward Fooks; sisters, Sally M. Bridgforth and her husband, Joseph, Ann M. Hemenway and her husband, William, and Catherine F. Marion; nieces, Sydney B. Kelly and Meredeth H. Betzhold; nephews, James M. Bagley and Massey M. Hemenway.
A memorial service will be held at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, 2339 Grandin Road SW Roanoke on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Karin MacPhail officiating.  A reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, P O Box 4706 Roanoke, VA  24015.
