Charles Eddie Evans

September 7, 1950 - January 8, 2021

Charles Eddie Evans, 70, of Salem, Va., passed peacefully at his home on Friday, January 8, 2021, surrounded by family, after a short battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Deward Evans & Leona Addington Evans; his brother, Roger Evans, and sisters, Shirley Couch and Cathy Wolfe.

Left behind to celebrate and cherish his life includes the love of his life and wife of 33 years, Pam Castle Evans; his daughter, Brooke Caldwell and husband, Jake; grandson, Kaleb Caldwell; beloved brothers and sisters, Larry (Beaver) Evans and wife, Gail, Michael (Pickle) Evans and wife, Vicky, and Sammy Wood and wife, Lisa, Debbie Burke and husband, Denny, and Brenda Kiser. He also leaves behind his dear in-laws, Roy and Jean Castle, Karen Castle Stone and husband, Bruce; several nieces and nephews; his work family at Martin’s German Service, and many special and dear friends. Last, but not least, his best dog, Alli.

Ed served honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed helping others, being outdoors, hanging out in his garage, or on the beach, and riding his Harleys, but, loved nothing more than being with friends. Ed was not here for a long time, just a good time.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at 2 pm on Friday, January 15, 2021, in the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home, located at 305 Roanoke Blvd., in Salem. A web portal will be available for those unable to physically attend. Access will be visible on this page on Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Angels of Assisi, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
