Peggy Doreen Turner Buckland

March 11, 1936 - January 9, 2021

Peggy Doreen Turner Buckland was born on March 11, 1936 in Dilton Marsh, Wiltshire, England to Harold and Lily Turner. She grew up in England during World War II and at age 16 graduated from Faringdon Berkshire High School whereupon she moved to London to work for National Cash Register company. She met her husband of 63 years in London as he was overseas with the US Air Force. She left England and all family behind to start a new adventure with the love of her life, Roy Buckland. They were married in West Virginia and had a great life for 21 years with the Air Force before retiring to their small farm just outside of Hinton, WV. She had a strong faith in Christ and served in a variety of ways through their church in Hinton. She was a wonderful, kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved to travel and always enjoyed planning their next trip. She and Roy had many camping trips all over the country throughout the years, where she was always on the lookout for a good fishing spot for the two of them. She was an avid photographer with many family memories of Grandma’s “Kodak moments” and many beautiful images on the walls of their homes reflecting her talent. She was also an avid gardener who could get anything to flourish. She was a knitter extraordinaire who created countless beautiful garments for family and friends. She loved spending time with friends in her knitting group at church. She and Roy lived a rich and full life together and she joined Roy in Heaven on January 9, 2021, only 2 days after his passing. She will be missed greatly by her children: Michael (Pam) Buckland of Beaver, WV, Wendy (Larry) Sonnenberg of Bozeman, MT and Steve (Tammy) Buckland of High Point, NC as well as 7 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and her brother Peter (Betty) Turner of Faringdon, England.
