Nellie Collins Overstreet
Nellie C. Overstreet, 81, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019.
She was born in Salem, a daughter of the late George and Ruth Collins. She was a graduate of Andrew Lewis High School, loved bowling, golf and being with friends. Nellie was a long-time employee of the American Red Cross. Most of all, she loved spending time with and enjoying her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Overstreet; her son, Rodney Brown; two sisters, Tinky Irvine and Lila Butterworth; two brothers, George Ray Collins and Earl Collins, and a niece, Linda Harrell.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and is survived by a sister, Mackie Blevins; two grandsons, Chip Brown and wife Meghan, and Tyler Brown and wife Jenny; three great-grandchildren, Wade Brown, Walker Brown and Westyn Brown; nephew and niece , Scott and Mary Ruth Cunningham; nephew, Matt Collins; two sisters-in-law, Pat Burks and Rita Collins; daughter-in-law, Roseanne Bumpass, and her caregivers, Phala Fulks, Renee Smith and Cindy Callus.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Friday, May 31, 2019 at Central United Methodist Church, Salem. The Rev Bryan Buckles will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
