William "Billy" Douglas Spencer

William Douglas “Billy” Spencer, 82, of Bassett, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at the Figsboro Senior Care Home. He was born in Henry County, on September 6, 1938, the son of the late Ernest Spencer and the late Mae Kidd Spencer. Billy is survived by his caregivers and friends of many years, Doug and Shirley Amos and their families, Julie and Chris Romero, their daughters; Jacinda and Stephanie Romero, Jeanie and Chad Long and their son, Trey, and a special friend, David Cassady. Billy, Doug, and Donald Amos rode Harley Davidson motorcycles in their younger years and enjoyed riding around the area together.
For many years, Billy helped deliver flowers for Shirley’s Floral Design in Bassett. You would often see Billy and Shirley’s husband, Doug, delivering flowers together. After the death of Billy’s parents, Doug and Shirley Amos included Billy at their mealtimes for many years. During the holidays, Billy was included as if he was family.
A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Old Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Ira Waller, Jr. and Daryl B. Martin will be officiating. A special thanks to the Figsboro Senior Care Home for the outstanding care provided for Billy over the past year.
