Wayne Thurston Pendry

Wayne T. Pendry, 50 of Bassett, passed away January 29, 2021 in Martinsville at SOVAH Health Hospital. He was born February 14, 1970 in Welch, WV.
Wayne was a lot of things to a lot of people, but above all, he was the greatest father to his three children. Ashleigh Pendry, and granddaughter Aubrie, of Collinsville VA. His sons, Devin Pendry, of Bassett and Justin Tilley, and grandchildren Brooklyn, Mason, and Ashlynn, of Bassett. In addition to his children, Wayne had two sisters, Kimberly Whittaker, of War WV, and Tammy Walker Southerland of Tazewell VA.
Wayne was preceded in death by his mother Della Mae Shrader, his infant daughter Meagan Celeste Pendry, and his best friend and brother Barry Collins. Wayne was always a lady’s man and had his three loves in his life. His girlfriend Deidra, his wife, whom he was separated from, Jessica, and his ex-wife and close friend Christie.
Wayne worked as a foreman at J.D. Bassett for many years and then he worked for his close friend Larry McAlexander, staying in the furniture business. Wayne later became disabled and enjoyed a simple life at his home in Bassett. Any given day, no matter the weather, you could find Wayne sitting on the porch, listening to his music and enjoying a cold one.
Wayne will be having family and friends, weather permitting, Monday, February 1, 2021starting from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM in the chapel at Bassett Funeral Home where the funeral will follow at 1:00 PM.  A graveside service will be on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 11:00 am in Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA, where Wayne will be laid to rest alongside his mother and daughter. 
Due to the governor’s requirements for Covid-19, a face covering is required and social distancing is to be observed.
