Ruth Carter Willard

Ruth Carter Willard, 86, of Mayodan, NC, passed away, Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at UNC Rockingham Hospital.  She was born in Rockingham County, North Carolina on June 25, 1934 to the late Tom Carter and the late Elizabeth Carter.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Leonard Willard; son, Tommy Massey; daughter, Ann Jacobs; brothers Thomas and Junior; sister, Lucille.
She is survived by four sons, Darrell Willard (Wanda), Jerry Massey (Amy) of Mayodan, NC, Randy Willard and Buck Massey (Frances) of Stoneville, NC; one daughter, Cindy Massey of Winston Salem, NC; grandchildren, Jessica Dillon, Kristen Massey (Doug), Breanna Willard, Colton Willard, Daniel Willard, Justin Willard, D. J. Willard, Pamela Willard, Chrystal Bowman, Joseph Willard; 13 great grandchildren; one brother, James Carter; two sisters, Pauline Huskey and Ray Lawson; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may stop by the funeral home Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel to view and sign the register without the family present.   A graveside service will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM in The Glenn’s Chapel Church Cemetery with Pastor Marty Stuart officiating.
Due to the governor’s requirements for COVID-19, a face covering is required and social distancing is to be observed.
