Betty J. Gammons

Betty J. Gammons 72, of Collinsville went home to be with the Lord on Sunday May 2, 2021 at Sentra-Virginia Beach General Hospital. She was born on December 23, 1948 in Pittsylvania County the daughter of the late Irvin Pruitt and the late Thelma Rigney Pruitt. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Walter Pruitt, Charlie Pruitt and Roger Pruitt; sisters, Joyce Moore, Diana Robertson and Shirley Jones; neice, Kathryn Moore; nephew, Thomas Reece.

Betty is survived by sons, Nelson Lloyd Banks, Jr. of Collinsville, Randy Gammons (wife Amanda S.) of Winston Salem, NC and Tommy Gammons (wife Beth) of Bassett; daughter, Angelia Brittingham of Bassett; grandchildren, Kamden Parker, Rhyland Parker, Brendan May, Jordan Gammons, Amanda D. Gammons, Jaime Brittingham, Heather Smith and Jacob Gammons; a brother, Darrell Pruit of Ridgeway; nieces, Rhonda Hutcherson, Ciji Parker, Karen Moore, Kella Odell, Jessica Hayzlett, Mandy Reece, Mackenzie Hayzlett and Ahbree Foddrell; nephews, William Servin, Mikey and DJ Servin, Jeffrey Jones and Caleb Reece; special canine companion, Precious and special friend of the family, Ruth Harran.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 8, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel where the funeral services to follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Bud Sedwick and Pastor Karen Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.

Due to the governor’s requirements for Covid-19, a face covering is required and social distancing is to be observed when visiting at the funeral home.
