Laura Suella Wingfield Buffkin
Laura Suella Wingfield Buffkin was born in Martinsville, Virginia on August 22, 1956 to Benjamin and Patsy Wingfield. She passed peacefully at her home on September 8, 2021.
Laura was a “living doll” and was always ready to give a smile and kind words to everyone she would meet. She graduated from Martinsville High School in 1974 and later received an Associate degree from Patrick Henry Community College. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Martinsville, and was at peace in her heart. She adored her friends and family, especially her loving husband, Bud (together for 50 years), and her pride and joy, her daughter Carrie. Laura’s kind and heartwarming personality will continue to live on through all those who knew and loved her.
Laura was preceded in death by her mother, Patsy Ashbrook Wingfield, and her father, Benjamin Ramey Wingfield. She is survived by her husband, Bud Buffkin; her daughter, Carrie Buffkin of Independence Virginia; two brothers, Mark Wingfield (Jessie Ward) of Leatherwood Virginia and Chris Wingfield (Melissa Wingfield) of Stoneville North Carolina; eight sisters-in-law and spouses; many nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends that loved her.
The family will be having a Celebration of Life ceremony at the Smith River Sports Complex Amphitheater on a later determined date and time. The family requests that instruments be brought, as music will be played as Laura would have wanted.
