Earlie Owens Hairston

Earlie Owens Hairston, 71, fondly known as “EO”, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at his residence.

EO was born September 28, 1949, to the late Earlie Hairston and Susie Preston Hairston. He was a 1967 graduate of the former Albert Harris High School, and was a member of Cross Point Church.

He married his high school sweetheart, Belinda Tuart Shelton, on May 13, 1967, and to this union three sons were born: James P. Hairston (Debra) of Danville VA, Theron D. Hairston of Douglasville GA, and Dr. Earlie O. Hairston (Jessica) of Land O’ Lakes, FL.

He also leaves to mourn ten grandchildren: Cantrell Lawson of Louisiana, James (Lydia), Rev. Justin Hairston (Desiree) of Reidsville NC,; Laquita Jordan (Chad) of Collinsville, VA; Kayrkida Hairston of Martinsville VA; Kendall (Jasmine)& Kailia Hairston, Eric Hairston, Taylor Hairston, all of Georgia; and Leisl Hariston of Land of Lakes FL, two great grandchildren Quan and Denaria Jordan of Collinsville VA: one sister Delveta Hairston of Martinsville VA, and a host of other relatives and friends.

EO possessed a special love for his wife, his sons, and grandchildren. He made certain that all their desires and needs were met. He also had a passion for gardening, canning, woodworking, helping others and riding with his motorcycle club, the Road Soldiers.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
