Aritha Moore Peatross

Aritha Moore Peatross 86, of Bassett, Virginia passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021. She was born on February 1, 1935, to the late Earl Moore, Sr., and late Birtha Jones Moore. In addition to her parents, Aritha was preceded in death by a son, Juan Antonio Peatross; her husband, Charlie Eddie Peatross; sisters Sandra Moore Estes, Valarie Moore, and brother, Earl Moore, Jr.
Aritha is survived by a sister, Francine Moore Manns (Buddy) of Bassett, Virginia; brothers, Harold Moore (Sarah) and Terry L. Moore (Myra) of Martinsville, Virginia; sisters in law, Delois Joyce (Carl), Priscilla Dandridge; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Aritha attended Henry County Public Schools. She was employed for over forty years at Stanley Furniture. Upon retiring, she served as secretary for Carpets of Bassett for five years and Aritha was a faithful and longtime member of St. Paul’s Pentecostal Holiness Church in Bassett, Virginia.
Aritha loved shopping and locating bargains. She traveled to stores in the Martinsville and Danville areas discovering irresistible deals of which she could not buy just one. Known for her calm and composed demeanor, she was a peaceful presence in the lives of many.
There will be a floating visitation on Friday, October 15, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. and funeral following at 11:00 a.m. at Bassett Funeral Home located at 3665 Fairystone Park Hwy, Bassett, Virginia where it will be live streamed. Interment will be at Carver Memorial Gardens, Martinsville, Virginia.
Due to the governor’s requirements for Covid-19, a face covering is recommended and social distancing is to be observed when visiting at the funeral home.
