Karen Marie Andrew

Ms. Karen Marie Andrew, 56, of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2021 in Roanoke, Virginia after a year-long battle with ovarian cancer.

Karen was born on March 22, 1965, in Chicago, Illinois, to Terrence and the late Mary Kay (Loess) Andrew. She was a loving sister to Marilyn (Joe), Susan, Michael, and the late Colleen Andrew. She was also an extraordinary aunt to Nathanial Andrew, who she adored beyond words. She is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and co-workers who will miss her dearly.

Karen was fiercely competitive, independent, and strong. That competitive fire came from playing basketball at Glenbard South High School, College of DuPage, and the University of Saint Francis in Joliet, Illinois. She was also a very caring person, spending years working as an activities coordinator and recreational therapist at nursing homes in the Roanoke Valley. She was also an animal lover, an avid walker, and a workout enthusiast.
