Jacquelyn Dame "Jackie" Denton

December 13, 1951 - July 17, 2019

Jacquelyn Dame Denton (Jackie), age 67, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2019 at her home in Salem.
Jackie is preceded in death by her father, James Knox Dame (Jack) and mother Kathleen Kinsley Dame, and her beloved black lab Dixie-Belle. She is survived by her son, Benjamin Knox Denton (B.K.) and girlfriend Jessica Butner, brother Benjamin Buckley Dame (Buck) and wife Mary, and brother James Knox Dame, II (Bo) and wife Heather. Also surviving are nephew Gregory James Dame and niece Rachel Marie Dame, and numerous friends and healthcare providers who have become friends.
A native of Salem, Virginia, Jackie attended Duke University where she trained in Radiation Oncology, and went on to work for 30 years at various hospitals in Radiation Oncology and hospital administration. Jackie was a wife, mother, friend, and care-taker, but most of all, she was an inspiration to every person she came in contact with. She always faced adversity and trials with a smile and determination.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 19, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at John M. Oakey and Son funeral home in Salem. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at First United Methodist Church in Salem, with Reverend Michael Houff officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Burial Park.
