Gloria D. Gibson

Gloria D. Gibson, age 69 of Botetourt, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021 following a long illness.

Gloria was born July 28, 1952 in Marlinton, West Virginia and lived in Botetourt most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Marquis E. Defibaugh and Oleta B. Sharp Defibaugh Scruggs.

Gloria was a seamstress for Maid Bess, retiring after 30 years of service. She was a faithful member of Botetourt Church of God of Prophecy and taught the adult class at church. Gloria was a homemaker and caregiver. She enjoyed canning, gardening, baking, and singing.

In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Gibson; daughter, Tonya Gibson; brothers: Morgan, Larry, and Herschel Defibaugh. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Veronica and David Mills of Fincastle; grandchildren: Lori Grubb, Johnathan Mills, Shannon Abernathy, Melanie Abernathy, and Wesley Palmer; and great-grandson, Asher Grubb; brothers: Sidney (Patricia) Defibaugh of Boones Mill, and Nelson Defibaugh of Roanoke; sisters: Linda Overstreet of Roanoke, Phyllis Defibaugh of Blue Ridge, and Nervella (James) Maxie of Boones Mill; and many loving nieces, nephews and other family.

A celebration of Gloria’s life will be 2:00 pm Monday, November 1 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville with Pastor Peggy Brown officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Dale Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-5 pm Sunday.
