Christopher Scott "Chris" Mitchell

March 23, 1974 - October 28, 2021

Christopher Scott “Chris” Mitchell, 47, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 28, 2021. Born in Salem to the late Kenneth and Barbara Mitchell, he is also preceded in death by his grandparents, Kelly and Virginia Mitchell, Kathryn Brinton, and James Doosing, as well as fathers-in-law, Reggie Bowles and Eddie Amos.
A graduate of William Fleming High School, Chris attended Flight Safety International Flight School where he trained and distinguished himself in a career in aviation. Chris loved serving the Lord and his profound and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ was both inspiring and an encouragement to his family, friends, and his Bethel Baptist Church family. Remembered for being a friend to all, Chris was always smiling, laughing, and was simply loads of fun to be around. Above all, he adored his family and was an amazing husband, father, and uncle to those he loved most.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Amber; and their son, Gabriel; mother-in-law, Sharon Amos; brother, Allen (Angela) Mitchell; sisters-in-law, Mandie (Braxton) Williford, Marcee (Paul) McMillan, Kaye (Gary) Williams, and Jackie Amos; aunts, Ann (Richard) Phillips and Brenda Marks; nieces, Jennifer Mitchell, Faith Mitchell, and Cora McMillan; nephew, Kelly Mitchell, as well as his best friend, Adam Hughes; numerous cousins and extended family also survive.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the nursing staff of Lewis Gale Medical Center, Dr. Van der Linden, and Dr. Fintel for their compassionate care.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, November 1, 2021, in the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home, Salem.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Bethel Baptist Church, 1601 S. Colorado St., Salem, VA 24153, with Rev. Hilton Jeffreys and Adam Hughes officiating. Interment immediately following at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family requests that guests in attendance wear masks regardless of vaccination status.
