Doris Frances Davis
Doris Frances Davis, 90, of Ripplemead, Virginia, entered the gates of Heaven to be with her Heavenly Father on November 13, 2021 at Heritage Hall-Rich Creek. She was born in Giles County on August 31, 1931, to Andrew William Davis and Mary Parcell Davis. She grew up and lived for many years on the Davis Farm on Clendennin Road, overlooking the New River and the Appalachian Trail. Doris enjoyed cooking and baking for friends and family, especially her nine nieces and nephews who spent parts of many summers on the farm.
Doris and her brothers, Hubert and Wayne, moved from the farm to Ripplemead in 1988. There, she trained to be a nursing assistant and worked in home health care until she was disabled by arthritis. In May, 2021, Doris moved to Heritage Hall in Rich Creek.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Hubert, Frank, Wayne, and Charlie Davis; sisters Macie Griffith, Irene Blevins and Margaret Dudley; brothers-in-law Green Griffith, Archie Blevins and Berkley Dudley; and nephews, Roger and Bill Griffith.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Johanna Davis, Danville, Virginia. Nephews who survive her are Tim Griffith (Jeannie), Pearisburg, Virginia, and Ronnie Davis, Eden, North Carolina. Surviving nieces are Michelle (Joel) Bridges, Danville, Virginia; Fern (Don) Martin, San Jose, California; Wanda (Bob) Olson, Oak Ridge, Tennessee; Carol Broughton and Linda Killion, Clinton, Tennessee; Debbie Griffith, Dublin, Virginia; and Barbara Griffith, Radford, Virginia. She is also survived by her aunts, Mildred and Virgie, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
There will be a graveside service conducted in Birchlawn Burial Park-Pearisburg, VA on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that you remember Doris’ life best by, baking something and sharing it with a neighbor, or sending a memorial contribution to the charity of your choice.
