Doris Watkins Gravely

Doris Gravely, 84, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Stanleytown Health and Rehab Center. She was born March 19, 1937, in Axton, Virginia, to the late John Kitt Watkins and Hattie Martin Watkins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Gladys Moore, Marie Gravely, and Nannie Watkins; and brothers, Raymond Watkins, Johnnie Watkins, and Harold Lee Watkins.

She attended Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and serving on the culinary committee. She also enjoyed bowling in her younger days.

Doris is survived by her husband, James Gravely; daughter, Jennifer Bowers (Charles); sisters, Norma Jean Seay, Lucille Roher, and Larneal Reynolds; and grandson, Sterling Bowers.

The funeral will be Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 12:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Carlton Redd officiating. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
The family requests that attendees wear a mask, and temperatures will be checked prior to the service.
