Jack Dempsey Lemons
Jack Dempsey Lemons, 86, of Martinsville, died Friday, December 3, 2021 at his home. He was born in Axton, Virginia on August 2, 1935 to the late Charles A. Lemons and the late Mary Turner Lemons. He was also preceded in death by brothers, William “Bill” Lemons, Charles A. Lemons, Jr., Eugene J. Lemons, Marvin M. Lemons, Paul “Tommy” Lemons, Robert D. Lemons, Sr., Cecil H. Lemons and a sister, Mae L. Harris.
Prior to becoming disabled, Jack was owner/operator of Martinsville Printing Company, Lemons Printing Company and a self-employed contractor. He was a U. S. Navy veteran serving in Korea and was of the Baptist faith having attended several churches.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary A. Lemons; three daughters, Donna Thompson, Misty Powell, Patty Black; three sons, Kevin Lemons, Glen Lemons and Jay Dee Lemons; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; four brothers, Richard L. Lemons, Johnny S. Lemons, Danny W. Lemons and Lloyd “Doug” Lemons; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 8, 2021 from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel where the funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park with military honors.
Due to the governor’s requirements for Covid-19, a face covering is recommended and social distancing is to be observed when visiting at the funeral home.
