Melvin Linwood "Lindy" Tuggle

Melvin Linwood "Lindy" Tuggle, 90, of Bassett, VA went home to be with his passed loved ones and the LORD on Sunday, December 12, 2021.

He was born in Henry County, Virginia to the late Melvin and Annie Mae Koger Tuggle. He was a member of Community Baptist Church in Bassett, Virginia.

Preceding him in death were his wife: Billie Jean Rose Tuggle, two brothers: Nathaniel Tuggle and Bobby Lee Tuggle, and one sister, Estelle Patterson.

He is survived by his son, David M. Tuggle of Rocky Mount, VA, his daughter, Brenda Jean Tuggle of the home, one sister, Nancy Faw of Collinsville VA., and a special niece Donna Hylton of Stuart, VA who was both chauffeur and care-giver. Also great nephews Christopher and Joseph Hylton of Stuart, VA to whom he was Papa. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews that loved their Uncle Lindy.

He worked for Bassett Furniture for many years and retired from Martin Processing Inc. He was a dedicated and faithful employee and was respected and loved by his co-workers. He loved family get-togethers and often asked when was the next gathering! He loved his garden and his “snap beans”. Mowing the yard was an enjoyment for Lindy - he said it was a “get-a-way”. He enjoyed many family trips to the beach, and was a big fan of NASCAR Racing and Dale Jarrett.

The funeral will be Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Michael Harrison Officiating. Visitation will be one half hour before the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville, VA. at 2:00 pm.
