Nellie Chaney Witcher

Nellie Chaney Witcher, 78, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away Monday, December 20, 2021, at Duke Hospital. She was born December 5, 1943, in Halifax, Virginia to the late Reuben and Florence Woods Chaney. She had worked at Bassett Furniture and was a member of Divine Faith. She loved cooking, church and was a very giving person.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Lloyd Witcher; son, Thomas Chaney; brothers, Dallas Chaney and Harold Chaney.

She is survived by her children; Charlie Chaney, Lee Witcher (Melody), Susan Gail Payne (George) and Ed Lloyd Witcher, Jr.; sisters, Stellar Rose and Jean Carolyn Richardson; grandchildren, Nichole Hairston, Keela Hairston, Markie Hairston, Zenika Witcher, Genesis Witcher and Keaunte Gee; and great-grandchildren, Nicouris Giles, Demontaye Hairston, Anijah Hairston and Kyniah Hairston.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at 10:00 A. M. at Wright Funeral Service Chapel.
