Melvin Arlene Porter

Melvin Arlene Porter, 62, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away Thursday, December 31, 2021, at her residence. She was born April 13, 1959, in Martinsville, Virginia to the late James Melvin Hayes and Ola Virginia Harding Cunningham. She attended St. James Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Melvin enjoyed cooking, talking about God, spending time with family and friends, and teaching grandchildren life lessons.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Evelyn Dalton, and Virginia Hardin.

She is survived by her daughter, Casey Porter; son, Ryan Demon Porter; sisters, Alice Smith, Vanessa Porter, Ruth Porter, and Stephanie Holland; brothers, John Holland and James Holland; and grandchildren, Ca’Dasha Porter, Omega Porter, Ayanna Porter, Lanyiah Porter, and Tyshawn King.

The funeral will be held on Thursday January 6, 2022, at 12:00 P.M. at St. James Pentecostal Holiness Church with Bishop, Dr. Bobby Agnew officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
