Donald William Shaver

August 8, 1949 - January 8, 2022

Donald William Shaver 72, of Salem, went home to be with the Lord on January 8, 2022, at his home in Salem.

Born on August 8, 1949, in Radford, Virginia, son of the late Frank Huffman Shaver and Betty Bradshaw Shaver of Blacksburg, Donnie was also preceded in death by his wife, Judy Mills Shaver.

Family remaining to cherish his memory include daughter, Lisa Shaver DeWeese (John), of Salem; son, Charles Randall Shaver of Roanoke; sister, Linda Diane Shaver of Roanoke; grandchildren whom he loved so dearly: granddaughter, Danielle DeWeese, of Salem; grandsons, Shane DeWeese of Knoxville, TN, Noah Shaver of Roanoke, Caleb Shaver of Roanoke, Micah Shaver of Roanoke, and Olwyn Shaver; He is also leaving behind his nephew Chris Cook and fiancée, Olivia Archer whom he loved so much.

Prior to retiring, Donnie was employed with Breakell Construction in Roanoke with many years of service building, supervising, and working as a project manager. He loved being with his family most of all and taking trips with his wife Judy. He loved hunting, fishing, baseball, reading, nature, and American history. His favorite food was chocolate in any form, but especially chocolate Frosty treats. He cherished his time at his home in New Castle, Virginia until moving to Salem to help care for his wife Judy. He was a very giving and caring husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend.
