Anna Louise Thornton Wheeler

March 8, 1926 - January 11, 2022

Anna Louise Thornton Wheeler, 95, of Narrows, VA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Heritage Hall Rich Creek.  Louise was born on March 8, 1926, in Maybeury, WV and was the oldest daughter of the late Jack Weaver Thornton and Minnie Annie Laurie Robertson Thorton.   Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Randall Terrell Wheeler, two sisters, Doris Hyatt, Vivian Vaught and a special niece and nephew, Linda Craft and Marion Ballard.  Louise will be remembered by those who knew her well as one who was always ready to serve her church, travel, shop, sing, cut up and laugh.  Louise was the “other mother” to her nieces and nephews, Jerry Hare (Cheryl), Larry Hare, Carol Sullivan, Tommy Hare (Marcia), Michael Hyatt (Gladys), Jackie Ballard, Paul Hyatt (Sue) and Ann Cerreta (Jerry).  And because she had even more love to share, her loving care was extended to her approximately 85 great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.  Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 12 pm at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Chapel in Narrows with Pastor Tony Robertson officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.  The family will receive friends 11 – 12 pm at the chapel before the service.  The family would especially like to say a huge “Thank You!” to the many caregivers at Heritage Hall for the love, concern, and joy that was given to “Mama” during her stay there.  The family is being served by Givens - Riffe Funeral Service in Narrows, VA, (540) 726-2442, and online at riffefuneralservice.com.
