Tammy Horton Hooker
Tammy Horton Hooker, 62, of Bassett, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at her home. She was born on September 29, 1959 in Martinsville to the late Frances Lee Horton and the late Levella Winsett Horton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Ronald E. Horton; granddaughter, Aurora Alice White.
She is a 1983 graduate of Patrick Henry Community College with an Associates in Business Administration, as well as a Bachelors in Criminal Justice from Ferrum College in 2008. She has held a career in Human Services, serving the community at Henry, Martinsville, Patrick County and Franklin County Social Services. Her interest for assisting the elderly also led her to work a short time for Southern Agency on Aging. She was currently working at Franklin County DSS in adult services department and had planned to retire in her current position.
Tammy is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Danny Lee Hooker; daughters, Susan White and Jessica White; step-children, David L. White, Jr. and Amanda Spangler. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel where a funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Terry Covey officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville.
