Thomas Harper “Tommy” Tucker

Thomas Harper “Tommy” Tucker, 75, of Bassett, Virginia passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at his residence. He was born June 19, 1946, in Rawlings, Virginia to the late Thomas Ribble Tucker, Jr and Gladys Cheeley Stanley.

Thomas proudly served his country as a member of the United States Airforce, serving during both the Vietnam era and the Cuban Crisis. He was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, member of the American Legion and AMVETS and former member of the Moose Lodge. He was a dedicated employee of Yeatts Transfer and retired after forty- four years as a truck driver. He was of the Methodist faith and loved bluegrass music.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-dad, Paul Stanley; sister, Carol Dease; and brother, and Jesse Robert Stanley “Bobby”.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Landon Tucker; daughter, Victoria Marie Walker; sister, Pauline Sue Joyce; grandchildren, Brittany Williams, and Lindsey Callahan (Danni); great-grandchildren, Evan Williams, Tyler Williams, Kinsley Nutter, Dakota Callahan, Cadence Callahan and Daniel Goins.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 2:00 P. M. at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Jeffery Dease and Barry Webster officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private.
