Barbara Collins

Barbara Jean Wilcher Collins, age 80, of Clifton Forge, Virginia died Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia.
Barbara was born on August 11, 1943 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late James “Pete” Bowen and Ruby Cathleen Wilcher McGuire. She worked in the dietary department of Alleghany Regional Hospital and a member of Mallow Presbyterian Church. Barbara never met a stranger, and she loved her friends and family. Even after she became homebound, she enjoyed spending time with them on the phone.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Troy Collins; a sister, Frances Cross; and a brother, Jerome McGuire.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Lovern (Stephen) of Vinton and Sherry Little (Johnny) of Social Circle, GA; her partner for over thirty years, Jim Harlow of Clifton Forge; three brothers, Robert McGuire (Anita), Danny McGuire, and Rodney McGuire (Janet); two grandchildren, Connor Little and Miranda Little; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Stella Cale, Ellen Stone, and Mary Nicely.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday afternoon from 12:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
