Barbara Lyn Thanos

Barbara L. Thanos, 74, of Wytheville, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025.She was preceded in death by her parents, Spiro and Carol Thanos. And her favorite horse, Cheyenne.Left to cherish her memory is her husband and partner of 27 years, Michael Rutland; son, Stefan Kalivas (Sara); step-daughters who she loved as daughters, Katherine Howe (Patrick) and Allison Winkler (Jonathan); grandchildren, Christos, Athena, Lia, Elizabeth, Amelia, Hayden and Patrick; siblings, Dee Ager, George Thanos, and Marilyn Thanos; as well as a host of other extended family; lastly, her beloved horse, Twister and furbabies, Summer and Rio.Barbara and her cooking will be deeply missed.A Graveside service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 11:30 am at Parklawn Cemetery located at 12800 Diers Mill Road Rockville, MD 20853. Arrival time for service will be 11: 15 to line up at the front gate entrance and everyone will drive to the grave site together.Flower deliveries for Barbara will need to be delivered Friday, May 30, 2025 by 5pm or Saturday, May 31, 2025 no later than 9am.There will be a Luncheon after the service, for anyone wanting to attend the family request you to R.S.V.P with Stefan at 1-202-716-4067.
