Bertha Mae Betterton Yeatts

Bertha Mae Betterton Yeatts, 79, passed away on February 2, 2024 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Halifax County, VA on February 20, 1944 to the late Berta Lee Talbert Betterton and the late Elmo Thornton Betterton. She is survived by her loving husband of many years, Mr. Ryland Neal Yeatts.

Mae was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of County Line Baptist Church. She also attended Shockoe Baptist Church. She worked for many years with her husband Ryland, as the co-owner and operator of Yeatts General Store in Java, VA previous to her retirement.

In addition to her husband, Mae is survived by a daughter; Rebecca Yeatts (Glenn Strickland) of Java, VA; a brother; David Betterton (Connie) of Nathalie, VA; four granddaughters; Elizabeth Shelton (Bryan), Brittany Eanes, Jessica Cox (Lee), and Erica Slayton (Chris); seven great granddaughters; Madison, Macey, Armani, Aveah, Renee, Taylor, and Riley; two great grandsons; Rain and Raiden; numerous nieces and nephews; and a close family friend; Mrs. Christina Gibson.

In addition to her parents, Mae was predeceased by four brothers; Roy Betterton, George Betterton, Westley Betterton, and Wayne Betterton; and daughter in love; Karen Yeatts.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024 at 11:00am at County Line Baptist Church, 13146 Chatham Road, Java, VA 24565, officiated by Reverend Mike McDowell and Reverend Donald Shields. Interment will immediately follow at the church cemetery. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service on the same day from 10-11:00am also at the church. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence.
