Betsy Jane Webb Williams

Betsy Jane Webb Williams, 64, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Feb. 15th, 2025 after a long battle with dementia. She was born on March 1, 1960, to Gratten O. and Jacqueline Boyd Webb of Raven, Va, and was two weeks shy of her 65th birthday. Betsy graduated from Richlands High School, Class of 1978, Southwest Virginia Community College and attended Virginia Tech where she made her home for forty years. She worked at Va.Tech for over 30 years and received many commendations for her exemplary work. She was an avid Hokie fan and enjoyed attending many Hokie alumni and athletic events with friends and family. Betsy was preceded in death by her father, a baby brother, and her grandparents, Reece and Effie Webb and Bert and Pansy Boyd. She was also preceded in death by her in-laws T.O. Williams III and Frances Williams. She is survived by the love of her life and soul mate, Thomas O. Williams IV (Tommy), her mother, Jackie Webb, her sister and brother-in-law Debbie and Tim Wallace. Also surviving are her step-daughters, Leslie Williams and family of Blacksburg and Leigh Sims and family of Raleigh, NC; her grand-children, Brynn (4), Zoe (14) and Taylor Sims (15) and Makari Mills (7); A niece and nephew that she claimed as her own: Wesley Wallace and wife Elizabeth (Beth) of Baton Rouge, LA and Jillian Wallace McCoy and husband, Jesse of Tazwell, Va, and her special grand-niece, Paxton McCoy. Her devoted K9 companion Bruce, laid by her side throughout her illness. She is also survived by her devoted and loving caretaker, Molly Margason. Special thanks to the nurses and medical staff of Amedisys Hospice for their constant and sincere care and professionalism. Also, special thanks to the caring and loving staff at the Engagement Center for Creative Aging (ECCA) at Virginia Tech - Adult Day Care. A loving thanks to Violet Zaleiski who had an immediate and special bond with Betsy and was thought of as Betsy and Tommy’s “adopted daughter”. Funeral services will be held at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg on Tuesday, February 18, 2025; Visitation will be from 4-5 pm followed by the funeral service at 5:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Gary McCoy. Interment will be at Westview Cemetery, 723 Roanoke St., Blacksburg, on Wednesday, February 19th at 10:00 am. An additional Celebration of Life will be held at Clearview United Methodist Church in Doran, VA on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 1:00 pm.
