Betty Carroll Richards

Betty Carroll Richards peacefully passed away on September 1, 2024 in her home in Salem, VA. She was born April 2, 1938. Betty was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church. She retired from Rowe Furniture in 1992 after many years of service. Betty will always be remembered for her kind spirit and sweet smile (giggle). She was much loved by her family, friends, and special neighbors whom she adopted as her own family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldridge Richards; her parents, Matt & Frances Carroll; her brother, Frank Carroll; and grandson, Lucas Dillon.

She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Dillon (Billy); stepdaughter, Lois Hunt; stepson, Darrell Richards; grandson, Levi Dillon (Michelle); step granddaughter, Penny Hunt (Shawn); great grandsons, Rowin and Jace Dillon; sister, Ann Boyd; sister-in-law, Phyllis Carroll; many special nieces and nephews; her special friend, Nita Bailey; so many wonderful close friends; and her favorite grand pets, Luja and Ollie.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to her caregivers who took such good care of her and provided many fun outings for her to enjoy. We would also like to express our sincere thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice for the wonderful care shown to her and our family in these last days.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 4th at 2pm followed by her service at Bethel Baptist Church, 1601 Colorado  Street, Salem, VA 24153 with burial to follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
