Betty Carter Adkins

December 5, 1935 - October 17, 2026

Betty Lee Carter Adkins, 90, of Ferrum, Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Betty was born in Ferrum on December 5, 1935, to the late Ralph and Roxie Carter, and was raised there. Ferrum remained her home, and it was where she and her husband, C.L. Adkins, built their life together. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, C.L. Adkins; her beloved daughter, Stephanie Young; her brothers, Kenneth Carter, Jesse Carter, and Aaron Carter; and her sisters, Ellen Barbour, Reba Mabry, Clara Carter, Margaret Jones, Faye Peters, Joy Underwood, and Janie Belcher. She is survived by her son-in-law, Steve Young (Teresa); her three grandchildren, Amy Gordon (Mark), Josh Young (Kristinia), and Jacob Spencer (Kristin); seven great-grandchildren, Emma and Paisley Gordon, Abigail, Brody, and Creed Young, and Addison and Colton Spencer; and her special niece, Sheila Lopez (Brad). Betty was a godly woman whose faith in Jesus Christ guided every part of her life. She loved her family dearly, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy; her whole world revolved around them. She also cherished her church family at Evangelistic House of Prayer in Ferrum, where she worshipped faithfully. The family will receive friends at Evangelistic House of Prayer on Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the Carter Family Cemetery and friends are invited to a meal at the EHOP Youth Center at the conclusion. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
